Idea Swamp is an innovative animation and production company based in Los Angeles, California, specializing in motion graphics, character animation, and documentary visualizations. It is headed up by Patrick Connelly, an award-winning designer and animator. In 2001, he won the Grand Prize in Global Tantrum's Animated Joke Competition. In 2007, he was part of the team that produced the Promax Gold-Award winning COPS “Reality Stars” promo, and was nominated for an Emmy for the work he did on the main titles of the Rachael Ray show.

In addition to animation and design, Patrick has worked as an actor, writer, director, and producer. (He also worked as a tape logger, but we won't discuss that here.) He was a segment producer for the hit reality series Blind Date for several years, before re-invigorating the graphics department there with his unique sensibility. He was also animation supervisor for Hypnotic.com's edgy animated series Bitches.

From there, he moved into motion graphic design and animation, working on shows for E! Entertainment Television (Wildest Cop Show Moments, Wildest Weddings, Wildest Spring Break Moments), NBC (The Law Firm), and CBS Paramount (Dr. Phil). He has also been involved with numerous on-air promos, including Dr. Phil, The Doctors, Two and a Half Men, Family Feud (for which he also designed the new logo), One on One, Judge Joe Brown, and many others. His latest efforts include visualizations for several History Channel documentaries including Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed, Star Wars Tech, Indiana Jones and the Ultimate Quest, Spider-Man Tech, Batman Unmasked, and Ancient Aliens.

Patrick graduated with highest honors from Montana State University in Bozeman, earning his degree in Media and Theater Arts. His thesis film was an animated short “How to Tell a Story,” which won accolades, and has even been used as a teaching tool in writing classrooms. He also graduated from the advanced character animation studies program at Animation Mentor in 2010.
